"My grandfather, Noel Morrell Mackarness, is the younger boy, seated and the only one bare headed – Mom (Claire Mackarness Mullenneix, 81, now living in Poulsbo) thinks her father was about 15-16 when this photo was taken – among the men working at the Nooksack River Mill Company in Ferndale, per the box info in the picture.  If Noel was about 15, then the photo was taken about 1904, as my grandfather was born 11 January 1889."
